Privacy & payments
Your account and application
Scholar stores your name, email address, account role, and a protected password hash in its database. Your password is not stored as readable text. Your account and draft application are available only to you and authorized administrators.
When you submit an application, you choose to share your profile with the review team. If approved, your name, university, field of study, location, story, and funding goal become visible to donors. Your email and password information stay private. Do not include passport numbers, bank details, health records, or other sensitive information in your public story.
Payments and receipts
Donations use Stripe’s hosted checkout. Scholar stores the amount, payment status, student, donor, and provider references. Card numbers and security codes stay with the payment provider. Contributions are confirmed by server verification, and appear in the donor dashboard.
Amounts are in US dollars. Any currency conversion or card issuer fees are determined by your provider. Payment availability is shown before checkout. Scholar does not promise tax deductibility.
How students receive support
Applying is free. Donations and payments to institutions are separate steps. The Scholar team verifies the institution’s payment information, arranges payment through its bank, and records the transfer and receipt. A funded goal does not mean a transfer has already arrived.
Current launch status
This private preview is for reviewing the Scholar experience. Payments remain paused while merchant, refund, contact, and operational details are completed. The operator must publish its legal identity, privacy contact, retention policy, and supported applicant ages before public enrollment.
